Vol. 3 No. 2 (2020): REVISTA DE ANÁLISIS ECONÓMICO Y FINANCIERO

In this edition, our readers will find topics such as: Natural gas rates in Peru, a comparison of regulatory models, where natural gas distribution prices are compared and how they are determined in Peru, with those that would be obtained under the efficient business model with allocation of prices proportional to costs. The second investigation presents the permanence in university education in Peru, an analysis within the framework of the assurance of basic quality conditions. This paper presents an empirical analysis of the permanence decisions of university students in the context of the implementation of the university reform that began in 2014 in Peru. Likewise, a discrete choice model with panel data is estimated, the results of which show evidence on the factors that determine the permanence of university students.

While the third investigation presents the choice of natural gas as a cooking fuel in Metropolitan Lima. Multinomial Logit models are estimated successively. From these models, the effect of an increase in income on the probability of using a different fuel for cooking was estimated, considering the hypothesis of the leading energy. The results obtained show that, as of 2014, an increase in the income of households that have natural gas reduces the probability of using another type of fuel for cooking. In the fourth investigation, the role of income in discrete choice models and its importance in evaluation projects is discussed. Thus, the author shows that the marginal utility of income decreases with income and these are statistically different when calculated between groups. In the latest research, informality, productivity and labor flexibility are presented. This document studies the relationship between these variables using data from various countries. It is shown that when labor flexibility and productivity are increased, less informality would be expected. Likewise, it is found that productivity is more effective in its ability to reduce labor informality compared to labor flexibility.
